Accounting is serious and a good tool
Keeping accounts is not just an obligation; thoroughly prepared accounts are the best tool available to you in the management of your enterprise.
Particularly to start with, you should spend some time establishing good accounting procedures and systems:
- Find good partners with whom you can collaborate
- Prepare a good accounts chart
- Plan what reports you wish to have
- Set aside some time for your accounts every day
- Stay up-to-date – maintain an overview so that you know whether you are on the right course
Can you keep your accounts yourself?
If you are interested and have sufficient know-how to keep your own accounts, you should consider doing so, at least in the beginning. That way you can be hands-on and keep a close eye on the enterprise’s ‘internal life’. Whatever you choose to do, you should consult with an authorized accountant in order to prepare an accounts chart and to establish good procedures. As your enterprise grows and recruits employees, or expands in some other way, you should consider using an external accountant or employing someone to keep the accounts for you.
The main article also explains what you must be able to do in order to keep your own accounts.
